The following committees will be formed as a result of the negotiations of new contracts for 2004-2007. Any APEA member is eligible to serve on the committees. The APEA is especially interested in forming committees that are representative of the many different job descriptions within our school district. Each committee will be made up of equal representation from the APEA and the administration and school committees.
Unit A (Professional Staff):
Joint Association/School Committee Study Group on Performance Pay
This committee will investigate the appropriateness and feasibility of a performance based compensation system.
Five members of Unit A (Professional Staff) will be appointed to this committee
Joint Association/School Committee Task Force on Teacher Evaluation
This committee will review the current system of evaluation and make recommendations for any desired modifications of the current system. Specifically, this committee will be encouraged to investigate evaluation options for individuals in different stages of their careers. The task force is further encouraged to develop a multi-year evaluation process that encourages self-evaluation, confidential peer coaching, and study projects.
Five members of Unit A (Professional Staff) will be appointed to this committee.
Joint Advisory Board on Professional Development
This advisory board is charged with responsibility of designing an overall professional development model. The board is specifically encouraged to create professional development options appropriate for individuals at all stages of their professional careers.
Five members of Unit A (Professional Staff) will be appointed to this committee.
Unit B (Clerical/Media Staff):
Joint Association/School Committee Task Force on Evaluation
It will be the responsibility of this task force to review the current system of evaluation in place for Unit B staff and to make recommendations for any desired modifications. The task force is also specifically empowered to review and update job descriptions for accuracy, consistency and completeness and to ensure that evaluation procedures accurately reflect job performance requirements.
Three members of Unit B (Clerical/Media Staff) will be appointed to this committee.
Unit C (Paraprofessionals):
Joint Association/School Committee Task Force on Evaluation and Professional Development
This task force will be charged with reviewing and assessing the current system of evaluation of paraprofessionals. This review will focus on, but will not be limited to, the accuracy, consistency, and completeness of the evaluation process, and will seek to ensure that evaluation procedures accurately and objectively reflect individual job performance requirements.
This task force will also review professional development needs of paraprofessionals and recommend programs through which the school district may meet those needs.
Five members of Unit C (Paraprofessionals) will be appointed to this committee.
